Sanitary Towel Handover in Nkantolo
Oliver and Adelaide Tambo were passionate about education. They understood that education was the cornerstone upon which a healthy society is built, and were well known for ensuring that young people in exile received further schooling.
In their honour, the Foundation has been supporting girls in four schools in Nkantolo, Eastern Cape – the birthplace of Oliver Tambo. The initiative provides each girl learner with a year’s supply of sanitary towels. The girls also receive health talks that teach them about their bodies, puberty, and other important development issues.
Based on the success of the programme, we have now expanded the project to include a fourth school. The Foundation is proud to have partnered with the Imbumba Foundation and together we have donated over 25 000 packets of sanitary towels to over 2000 girls in the 2 years in which the programme has been running.
