2022 marks the 6th year of Nkantolo Education Project, which was started with the aim to improve the quality of life of students in the Nkantolo village – O.R.’s birthplace. This project has successfully executed nine visits providing over 500 000 sanitary towels to over 1400 girls at four schools in Nkantolo.
The distributions took place at Qobo Junior Secondary School, Kantolo Junior Secondary School, O.R. Tambo Technical High School and finally, Marelane Senior Secondary School. In each of the schools, there was a hygiene talk where important menstrual information is imparted. The girls were encouraged to ask questions regarding their cycles, puberty, and other health concerns they may have. Following all questions and speeches by the partners, each girl was given a booklet on growing up, as well as a 6-month supply of sanitary towels.
The partners then visited Qobo clinic, a local clinic in the area, which has also become a beneficiary of the Nkantolo Education Project, where we once again also supplied with sanitary towels for women in the area in need thereof.
The 2022 Nkantolo Education Project was made possible by the generosity of our partners, Aspen Pharmacare, Brand South Africa and the Imbumba Foundation.
