At our January 2018 visit to Nkantolo, SANRAL accompanied the Foundation, providing all learners with scholarship and bursary information. Building thereon, the Foundation partnered with the Department of Basic Education to create a Jamboree for Future Choices in this vulnerable area, providing learners at the 4 schools with which we work with career guidance and information, as well as other integrated services. The Foundation included the Department of Home Affairs – as many of the learners do not have birth certificates or IDs – and the South African Agency for Science & Technology Advancement (SAASTA) in the event. Roughly 1000 learners attended the daylong exhibition, interacting with experts in various areas of service, such as career development, life skills’ awareness, and social welfare.
