Nkantolo Education Project

About This Project

In 2019, we once again partnered with Imbumba Foundation’s Caring4Girls Initiative, who assisted in the procurement and dissemination of the sanitary towels, which took place in February and September.

Upon reflection, following our February intervention, we realised that it was necessary to expand the scope of the project to include dignity packs for boys and young girls of non-menstrual age. The dignity packs included: body lotion, bath soap, facecloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, roll-on and body spray. With the generous sponsorship of the Nozala Trust, we were able to provide packs to all the learners in our 4 target schools. Through the use of a panel discussion, which included teachers, learners and health professionals, pupils learnt about the importance of bodily integrity, hygiene and menstrual health.

We secured popular musician and TV personality ProVerb to anchor the talks, as well as Luke Ntombela to provide musical entertainment. This was extremely well received and led to a fun and engaging way to discuss the often-stigmatised topic of menstrual and bodily hygiene.
